This afternoon we all got together to get some more work done.
We added in Tian’s sound effects for enemies getting hurt, firing spikes, bombs, bomb explosions, trees getting chopped and more. However some of the sounds weren’t playing in game for some unknown reason.
Upgrade Screen, Ice Bomb and Frozen Enemies
We also added in Seb’s upgrade screen, iced enemy images and ice bomb animations. I got the ice bomb code to work so that enemies would freeze when hit by the ice bomb and also lose a small amount of health.
Temporary Upgrade System
We also added in a very temporary ability to press enter at the upgrade screen which would give you the ice bomb for the squirrel as fully implementing the upgrades is going to take a long time, however we wanted to show the ice bomb working for tomorrows presentation.
Bomb Animations Fixed!
We had previously observed the bomb explosions seeming to play too quickly, we have now realized the timings in the code to switch animations was not correct. This meant we had to adjust the time to get the explosion to play the full animation which then lead to further problems with the fire rate etc. (Your bomb would explode and then you could fire another bomb which would then explode after half a second, thinking it was the previous bomb). This took a very long time to fix. However, we got it sorted in the end and the bombs now work better than ever and look better than ever.
